Blog Post: Don't be offended, be aware.
When you live at or below ordinary levels of awareness, you spend a great deal of time and energy finding opportunities to be offended. A news report, a political comment, someone protesting, a comedian telling a joke, a black cloud, heck it seems people are offended by the sunshine these days. If you look you can be offended by anything. Become a person who refuses to be offended by any one, any thing, or any set of circumstances. If you have enough faith in your own beliefs, you'll find that it's impossible to be offended by the beliefs and conduct of others. If you're secure in who you are what others believe or do won't offend you, you don't have to like them but are you really offended? Not being offended is a way of saying, "I have control over how I'm going to feel, and I choose to feel peaceful regardless of what I observe going on." When you feel offended, you're practicing judgment. You judge someone else to be stupid, insensitive, rude, arrogant, inconsiderate, or foolish, and then you find yourself upset and offended by their conduct. What you may not realize is that when you judge another person, you do not define them. You define yourself as someone who needs to judge others. Unless it directly effects you or someone in your life it shouldn't matter. You be yourself, believe what you believe, know that other people have other beliefs and move along. Why be offended? It's a waste of energy, energy that should be used loving, showing compassion, lifting people up and living in Peace. Ref:Wayne Dwyer

Let the bad things in the world make you kinder because you are meant to be one of the good things in the world.
Let the hardships you face make you wiser because now you have the knowledge to help others through their struggles. Let the problems you have be a reminder that without the bad moments you would never recognize the good. Let the darkness of the world fill you with desire to be the light. Be the light that the world so desperately needs !! It seems we are stuck on the idea that if we want to make the world a happier place, we need to do something we get so caught up in the doing that we forget what the goal really is? What if we don’t need technology to speed up, but ourselves to slow down? What if the answer is to just be?
We seem to create conflict just for the sake of conflict. We seem to look for reasons to be offended just so we can complain about how offended we are? We created this mess, is it too late then to just be? Can we take a breath and focus on being? Perhaps the time to be has passed, maybe it's too late. I believe our heart just wants us to be but we aren't listening. Our heart yearns to be heard but we continue to look past it for all the ideas bouncing around in our mind on how to make things better. Does the question "to be or not to be" still need an answer? Here's a thought, you be you, I'll be me and everything will just be. -Coach Bill |
