about Our Retreat Home

​Pura Vida Retreat and Spa is perched in the volcanic hills of Alajuela at 4,900 feet above sea level. As an award-winning spa and wellness destination Pura Vida overlooks the Central Valley of San Jose and is known for its outstanding hospitality, breathtaking views, and exquisite gardens. Pura Vida’s climate is spring-like year-round with warm days (70s-80s F) and mild nights (60s F). The sun rises at 5:30 and sets around 6 all year long.

​We will be hosting our Retreat during Costa Rica’s Green Season. The Green Season is a time of richness and splendor for those seeking peace and tranquility. The Green Season offers refreshing mountain temperatures, as well as purifying and cleansing afternoon showers which provide an opportunity to discover what the Costa Ricans call the season of turning within.

There is no prior experience needed to attend. We ask you to come to our retreat with an open mind and heart, we will do the rest. Be ready to learn and experience a transformation.

The Gardens and Forest

 Over 1,400 species of orchid grow wild in Costa Rica. Our natural flower is under siege in some areas because of deforestation, so we are taking an active role to conserve and celebrate this exotic plant. Our grounds hold dozens of species of orchids.

​Pura Vida Retreat & Spa takes great pride in their exuberant, lush gardens that attract a variety of fauna for our guests viewing pleasure.

the food

Food is such a HUGE part of the Pura Vida life. All of the meals during our Retreat will be lovingly prepared by a team of talented chefs. The entire retreat will be based around local farmers and growers as well as seasonal recipes that will delight the palette, and entrance the eye. 
All our ​Delicious dishes are lovingly prepared from fresh local produce and regional purveyors. Served buffet-style in our inviting dining hall, all meals feature both North American and Costa Rican vegetarian, fish and chicken dishes to tempt your taste buds and nourish your body and soul. We also can accommodate specialty diets with advance notice.
Mealtimes are:
Breakfast – 7:30am-9:00am
Lunch – 12:30pm-2:30pm
Dinner – 6:30pm-8:00pm
Complimentary coffee, tea, alkaline water and filtered water are available throughout the day.
​The wine and juice bar in the dining hall stocks sulfite-free, organic wines, Costa Rican and Central American beers, and bottled water. It is also the place for fresh smoothies, custom-blended chai and organic wheat grass elixirs (made from wheat grass grown in-house).

Retreat schedule

During the SOUND & VIBRATIONAL THERAPIES CERTIFICATION RETREAT, you will be Sharing Space with those like-minded souls who are coming together to share a beautiful time of Discovery and Connectedness.

To be awarded your Certifications you are required to attend all workshops and sessions that align with the Level you are signing up for (*), all others are optional. You are encouraged to participate in as many events as you desire but remember...this is YOUR retreat.

You are also encouraged to take some spa time, walk the nature trails, relax by the pool, go on an excursion. Whatever you feel drawn to...do it or do nothing.

Cancellation Policy

It is your responsibility to read and understand our cancellation policy before making a reservation. Naturally, no one books with the intention of cancelling or postponing their retreat, but unexpected things do happen, so please purchase travel insurance for your protection and peace of mind.

The cancellation policy below is designed to protect both retreat leaders and all retreat attendees. We strongly encourage you to purchase travel insurance that will cover you in the case of unexpected life events or travel issues.

CANCELLATION
Please note that there will be no refunds or discounts for arriving late, leaving early, flight cancellations, travel delays or illness. If you cancel your participation in the retreat for any reason, the cancellation policy below will apply, with no exceptions.
We wish we could compensate people for unforeseen circumstances, but we have incurred expenses that once paid we cannot refund. We strongly encourage you to purchase travel insurance if you have concerns.

Reservations require a minimum deposit of $500. You may pay in full or set up a monthly payment plan. All balances are due by February 24, 2025 (90 days prior to retreat).

CANCELLATION POLICY
Before February 25, 2025, you can request a refund, less the $500 non-refundable deposit.

Additional Refunds:
Before March 25, 2025 you may receive a 50% refund of monies collected,
Before April 25, 2025, you may receive a 30% refund.
After April 26,2025, there will be no refunds.

It is highly recommended that you purchase travel insurance to cover unexpected travel issues. The best insurance coverage would be "Cancel for Any reason" Insurance. Here is a link for travel insurance. Purchase CFA for the most peace of mind.
