About SHerri:
My name is Sherri Nguyen. I have lived in the beautiful city of Boca Raton, FL for the past twenty-two years with my husband, Tuan and our two boys, Tallon- 20-Junior at University of North Florida, Kierce-17- Junior at Boca Raton Community High school.
My passion is empowering people to connect to their authentic self and lead and inspire from a place of love and connection and to make a positive impact on themselves and to share that love with others. I have held many titles in life, but the ones that feel true to me right know are teacher, mentor, and coach.
My journey to mindfulness started around 2009. I lost my hero, my grandfather who was a major influence in my life. I started to search for more meaning and continued to ask questions that lead me to mindfulness and meditation. It was the first time that I really recognized (became aware) of my thoughts, feelings, and mind body connection thru simply breathing. I wanted to learn more and dove into the practice.
I was teaching preschool at the time and recognized that thru creating my own personal practice of using mindfulness in my daily life with all my relationships including my students that they were benefiting from the skills that I was demonstrating and practicing daily. I noticed the difference that becoming aware of my thoughts and taking responsibility for myself first was making a noticeable difference in the way I was showing up as a teacher.
I was learning to pause and see where I needed to self-regulate, thru the simple practice of coming home to my breathe. Awareness to the present moment taught me to be conscious of my responses versus unconsciously reacting to life situations. This was a game changer for me because I realized that I had the power to be aware and recognize/label feeling that were coming up- pause and decide if it is wanted feeling or to just let it go.
As I continued to deepen my practice, I noticed such a need for families to be introduced to the practice and the enormous benefits for themselves and their families. My passion is to teach tools that can assist in better relationships thru connection and communication.
As my journey continues, I have made mindfulness/meditation a daily practice as a part of my morning routine as well as carrying the skills of mindfulness to as many of my daily interactions and know that- everyone we interact with has the potential to be our teacher.
I am honored to be a part of Meditate School of Mindfulness as a Master of Mindfulness Mentor, Mindful Family Mentor, Parent & Teen Mentor, Practitioner of Sound Healing, Yoga Nidra Teacher and to share this knowledge with you. This is a community that continues to question with curiosity, how we can weave the principles of Mindfulness into every area of our life. I would love to hear more about you and to know where you are on your life journey and what is needed for you right now. Please book a clarity call to discuss.
Specialty areas: Mindfulness, Parenting, Communication, Stress Management, Radical Acceptance, Holding Space, Being Love, Intention Setting

What does being Mindful to Family mean to mE?
Presence- being fully present with your children, partner, family member.
Listening- learning to listen to your self, honor yourself first. Then model the skills for your family.
Deep listening- being fully present, with only one aim, to hold space for the person, with the intention of being there fully for them.
Acceptance- Learning to embrace our imperfect ness as parents and human beings.
Living from a place of authenticity- being ourselves, able to make mistakes and see them as opportunities to learn, laugh at yourself, being comfortable in your own skin, owning who you are. Modeling this is the best gift we can teach our children.
Compassionate Communication-No blame, no shame, no judgement no guilt.
Teach love and connection before correction, what is our intention
Understanding our own patterns of reactivity and skills to self regulate before speaking, learning to pause and regulate first.
What is the language we use when we communicate, how are we framing it, asking for what we want rather than we do not want
Teaching how to understand emotions/feels and what to do with the big emotions and how to process
Being able to express how we feel at all times using positive connecting language to produce positive outcomes.
Gratitude- practicing the energy of gratitude and how to incorporate this in the family experience daily.
Appreciating what we have teaches children to be thankful of the daily blessings in our life.
Love- when all family communication and interaction comes from a place of love, all words, behaviors, actions are seen with compassion for the other first with the intention to connect.
